Frozen(2010) (6.4/10) [imdb]
Yesterday night I saw 'Frozen'. It is in basic terms more of a thriller that seems to be based on 'true events' rather than focus on horror elements. That means, its a story as is, trying less to deliver chills and shocks than relating the story. The story is of three friends who are stranded on a ski-lift at night, and since the ski-lift doesn't operate for next five days, they are forced to try desperate measures rather than waiting on the ski-lift.
The movie has no heroes or villains, just fellow humans like you and me who do typical brave things when caught in such a situation. And get hurt badly, both mentally and physically.
The atmosphere is well created, though reminding of Dead Snow(2009) and 30 Days of Night(2007), it is entirely original. In fact the chilly atmosphere becomes one of the major elements that the movie serves. The other is eye-to-small-details that the writer-director has given to. Simple human emotions, small talk and sentiments are all very real and not make believe. The direction style focuses more on bringing the chemistry between the three friends, while also balancing on with the story. The movie is hour and half long, and is tightly executed without dragging any scene for long. Although it could've been much shorter with minor edits.
Nevertheless Frozen(2010) is a good thriller flick, recommended for watching in free time. But for those looking for more Horror per-se stuff, it might not be that worth their time.
